After completing a half-season loan spell with Spanish outfit Granada, Facundo Pellistri’s Manchester United future is up in the air.
Last season’s unprecedented injury crisis has only emphasised the need for depth across the squad. However, in this case, letting Pellistri leave and gain some much-needed first-team experience away from Old Trafford may be the most beneficial option.
In line with that, the 22-year-old is now poised to fall even further in the pecking order after Amad Diallo oversaw an impressive end to the term. When he was finally granted the chance to showcase his talents, fans were taken aback at what he had in his locker – which further begged the question as to why Erik ten Hag had kept him on the sidelines for so long.

Pellistri attracts European interest
Alas, Pellistri – now an established Uruguay international with 26 caps to his name – is being targeted by Panathinaikos. He has only ever played in his native country, Spain and England, so the Greek Super League giants would pose a new challenge for the young winger.
Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos took to X (Twitter) on Monday to confirm that Panathinaikos are actively ‘pushing’ to sanction Pellistri’s arrival. It remains to be seen what kind of fee INEOS chiefs would demand.
