European Championship & Copa América Finals Round Out Summer Of Record Soccer Viewership
The European Championship and the Copa América tournament both came to dramatic ends on Sunday, ushering in even more record-breaking audiences with the final matches.
Spain defeated England in what is now the most-watched non-World Cup soccer telecast in Fox history with 6.4M viewers tuning in. It’s the largest audience ever for a Euro telecast on U.S. English-language TV.

Later in the day, Argentina ousted Colombia in the Copa América final, scoring 6M viewers. That’s also a record for the tournament’s English-language U.S. audience and, after the Euro final, it’s Fox’s second most-watched non-World Cup soccer telecast.
Across Fox and FS1, the Euro Championship averaged about 1.7M viewers, which is up 34% from 2021. Meanwhile, Copa América saw impressive 359% growth with an average of 1.4M viewers. They both now stand as the most-watched respective tournaments in English-language TV history.
The summer of soccer didn’t just bode well for English-language TV. TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language telecast of Copa América final delivered 5.2M viewers across Univision and TUDN. The match window soared to 6.35M viewers, making it the largest Univision audience since the 2014 World Cup final.
Sunday’s England-Spain match delivered 3M viewers, now standing as the most-watched Euro final ever in Spanish-language, up 13% from the previous comparable final.
