Euro 2024 outright odds: Tips, predictions and quarter-finalists ranked

We’re now at the quarter-final stage of Euro 2024 and we’re constantly scouring the outright markets to find the best value. Carry on reading to find out best tips for a huge summer of international tournament football.

Euro 2024 – Outright Winner

England went into Euro 2024 as one of the heavy favourites and we backed this summer to finally be the one that sees The Three Lions go all the way.

With a wealth of attacking talent, and a solid defensive base, England have all the tools to be crowned European Champions in Germany and, with BetMGM, you can get them at odds of 15/4 by clicking the link below.

“I’ve got them as one of three teams that could potentially win the tournament,” Dean Smith said on Squawka’s Euro 2024 prediction podcast.

“I think when we get to those final stages, there will be really tight games, when you come up against the likes of France and Portugal. It might even come down to penalties.

“I just think there’s so much quality in that squad. There are so many players who you expect to step up in those big games. Not just Bellingham, not just Kane, not just Saka, you’ve also got your Fodens and then you’ve got Mainoo who has come in and done big things in big games for Man Utd this season. It’s tough to say we’re going to go ahead and beat teams like France and Portugal but I think we can compete more than we have done in the past.”

Of course, Gareth Southgate’s men will have to improve drastically on their performances so far, with one group stage win and an extra-time victory in the last 16. But at least the talent is there to improve and the draw is on England’s side. The Three Lions will avoid the likes of Germany, Spain, Portugal and France until the final. There may not be a better chance for England on paper.

Euro 2024 – Each Way Winner

Portugal have gone slightly under the radar when it comes to winning Euro 2024 but we think that Roberto Martínez’s men could make a strong run in the tournament, making it to the final of Euro 2024.

There are plenty of household names in the Portugal squad, none more so than Cristiano Ronaldo as he plays what must be considered his final international tournament. The players around him now look like having the ability to match his output and it could be a very interesting summer for the 2016 European Champions.

Euro 2024 – Name the Finalists

This one is pretty obvious judging by our predictions above but we’ve gone for England and Portugal to make the final this summer.

Both sides have squads capable of going all the way and after winning their respective groups, they will avoid each other until the final match of Euro 2024. Portugal have made it to the semi-finals in four of the past six European Championships, only failing to do so at Euro 2008 and Euro 2020.

Euro 2024 – Quarter-finalists ranked

Below we have ranked the final eight teams at Euro 2024. To achieve our ranking we looked at two different categories and found an average score. The first was Expected Goals difference for each nation; and secondly, the strength of opposition and normal-time results to gauge fixture difficulty and performance.

England

England came into Euro 2024 as favourites, though that was as much down to optimism from English fans as it was their capability of actually winning the tournament. The Three Lions remain favourites, again due to optimism but this time also their potential run to the final on paper. England haven’t been good at Euro 2024 so far, winning just one of their three group stage games.

They were also moments away from being knocked out in the last 16 by Slovakia, needing a moment of magic from Jude Bellingham to take the game to extra-time. It was a performance indicative of the way England have been playing, sitting too deep when leading to inhibit their own attack while holding out defensively. All of this against teams that England should, on paper, be beating routinely.

Turkey

No one expected Turkey to be in the quarter-finals. The Crescent-Stars were many people’s dark horses at Euro 2020 but they ended up losing all three group games while scoring just one goal. This time around, Turkey were placed in Group F and finished second behind Portugal on their head-to-head record.

They faced Euro 2024 dark horses Austria in the last 16, who had finished top of their group ahead of France and Netherlands. No one gave Turkey a chance, but two goals from Merih Demiral helped Turkey depose Ralf Rangnick’s side and secure a first major tournament quarter-final since they reached the semi-final of Euro 2008.

Netherlands

Netherlands are another team to have underwhelmed at Euro 2024, scraping through their group with a third-placed finish. It was always going to be a tough group with France also involved, but Netherlands were expected to finish second. And they went into their final group game top of the table, before dropping with defeat to Austria.

But Ronald Koeman’s men were more convincing in their 3-0 win over Romania in the last 16. Goals haven’t been too much of a problem for Netherlands at Euro 2024, with their defence instead letting them down. Of the eight quarter-finalists, only two sides have a higher Expected Goals Against tally than Netherlands’ 3.84.

Portugal

Portugal never really built on their Euro 2016 win, losing in the last 16 at the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020, as well as a quarter-final exit at the 2022 World Cup. But their last 16 exit at Euro 2020 was just the third time in eight appearances at the European Championship that Portugal had lost their first knockout stage game.

Roberto Martinez’s men secured top spot in their group after two games, losing their final match to Georgia having rotated their side. Portugal didn’t look convincing in their last 16 game against Slovenia, needing penalties to see off a hard-battling side.

Switzerland

Switzerland are the in quarter-finals of a European Championship for just the second time, repeating their feat from Euro 2020. They’ve already beaten their best-ever record for wins, managing two victories in a single tournament for the first time. In fact, 40% of their European Championship wins have come in Euro 2024.

Placed in a group alongside Germany, Hungary and Scotland, Switzerland finished second to set up a last 16 tie against Italy. And Switzerland completely outplayed the Azzurri in their 2-0 win, looking comfortable as they dumped out the defending champions.

Spain

People weren’t too sure what to think of Spain going into Euro 2024, but La Roja have been one of the best sides at the tournament. They’re the last remaining team with a perfect record, winning all three of their group games without conceding a goal and beating Georgia 4-1 in the last 16.

They were seriously impressive against Croatia and Italy, though they relied on an own goal to win the latter, showing signs of wastefulness in front of goal. What counts against Spain slightly is the level of their last two opponents, with Albania and Georgia the lowest-ranked sides at Euro 2024. Nevertheless, they’ve got every chance of winning a record-breaking fourth European Championship, giving the highest 19.5% chance per Opta’s projections.

Germany

As hosts of the tournament, we couldn’t really get a gauge on Germany‘s quality, not playing competitive football. And even in their friendlies they struggled through 2023. But Julian Nagelsmann has turned things around, and then some. Germany look to be one of the most-complete teams at Euro 2024 and have shot up in the list of favourites.

Die Mannschaft won their group with seven points from a possible nine, though they did need a late equaliser to secure a draw against Switzerland and top spot. But the game against Switzerland was the only match so far in which they haven’t looked on top form, cruising past Denmark in the last 16.

France

We won’t deny that France have been a tough watch at Euro 2024, but they know how to win. There are a few examples of teams previously winning the European Championship without playing overly well, and France fans will definitely take heart from that.

That’s not to say France have been bad. In fact, they’ve been fantastic defensively, building their run on the back of that. In their four games at Euro 2024 so far, France have faced an Expected Goals tally of just 0.66 per match, the best record at the tournament. And the only goal they have conceded came from the penalty spot, with Robert Lewandowski getting a second chance at that too!
