Euro 2024 – Confirmed Round of 16 fixtures and kick-off times

The round of 16 ties for Euro 2024 are confirmed following the conclusion of the tournament’s group stage this week.

It’s knockout football from here on out as the remaining teams battle to be crowned champions of Europe, and the last 16 has thrown up some brilliant ties.

Here is the full confirmed fixtures and kick-off times for the Round of 16 at Euro 2024 (Kick-off times BST):

Saturday 29 June

Switzerland vs Italy (Berlin, 17:00)

Italy snatched a place in the Round of 16 dramatically after a 98th-minute equaliser against Croatia sent the holders through and their opponents crashing out.

Luciano Spalletti’s side have not been entirely convincing in their campaign to date, ahead of a clash against a Switzerland side who finished as runners-up to Germany in Group A without losing a game.

It could be a tense encounter, with five of the last six meetings between the nations ending in draws.

Germany vs Denmark (Dortmund, 20:00)

Germany progressed to the knockout rounds as Group A winners, having kickstarted their home tournament with a 5-1 thrashing of Scotland. A win over Hungary and a draw with Switzerland sealed top spot for Julian Nagelesmann’s men, who have been one of the most impressive outfits on show so far.

Denmark, meanwhile, were draw specialists as all three group games ended in stalemate. The Scandinavians finished as runners-up to England by the narrowest of margins, after finishing level with Slovenia on points, head-to-head, goals scored, goal difference and yellow cards shown to players.

UEFA confirmed that Denmark finished above Slovenia in Group C due to a yellow card shown to Slovenia assistant coach Milivoje Novaković.

Sunday 30 June

England vs Slovakia (Gelsenkirchen, 17:00)

England progressed as group winners but it has been a tough tournament for Gareth Southgate’s side to date. Just two goals scored and a lack of invention in the final third has burst the bubble of optimism around Three Lions heading into the tournament.

It’s been a tepid watch so far, though the talent in the ranks offers hope. Southgate can call upon the La Liga Player of the Season, Premier League Player of the Season, and European Golden Shoe winner this summer, a depth of talent the envy of rival teams.

Slovakia, who upset Belgium in a thoroughly entertaining and improbably even Group E, await in Gelsenkirchen. England have not lost to Slovakia in six previous meetings.

Spain vs Georgia (Cologne, 20:00)

Spain have been the most impressive team in the tournament so far, emerging from the ‘Group of Death’ with a perfect record and no goals conceded. The exciting wing duo of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams have been fantastic to watch, with Luis de la Fuente’s team full of confidence.

La Roja will take on the lowest-ranked team in the tournament in the Round of 16, as surprise package Georgia await in Cologne. The 74th-best side in the world according to FIFA, Georgia beat Portugal in a huge upset to reach the knockout rounds in their major tournament debut.

Monday 1 July

France vs Belgium (Düsseldorf, 17:00)

A heavyweight clash in Düsseldorf as European neighbours France and Belgium do battle. Ranked two and three in the world by FIFA, neither side has performed to their best level during stuttering group-stage campaigns.

France, however, remain favourites for success this summer and will be confident of beating a Belgium side whose ‘Golden Generation’ seems to have passed without silverware. It will be just the second meeting between the teams since France beat Belgium 1-0 in the semi-finals en route to 2018 World Cup success.

Portugal vs Slovenia (Frankfurt, 20:00)

Portugal qualified for the Round of 16 with a game to spare after wins over the Czech Republic and Turkey.

Roberto Martinez rested his key names for the defeat to Georgia but a full complement of Portugal stars will return to face Slovenia in Frankfurt.

Slovenia drew all three group games to reach the knockout rounds for the first time, including a goalless draw with England.

Tuesday 2 July

Romania vs Netherlands (Munich, 17:00)

Romania were surprise winners in Group E, as all four teams incredibly finished level on four points. Radu Dragusin has been an impressive performer at centre-back for the resolute Romanians, who meet the Netherlands in Munich on July 2.

The Dutch have talent but have looked vulnerable to date, including during a 3-2 defeat to Austria that condemned them to third place in the group. However, the Oranje have the upper hand in this fixture, winning the last four meetings by a combined score of 13-1.

Austria vs Turkey (Leipzig, 20:00)

This might just be the best watch of the Round of 16.

Austria and Turkey have been two of the most entertaining teams in the tournament so far, with the former living up to their ‘dark horse’ billing with an intense brand of pressing football under Ralf Rangnick. Austria upset the odds to top a group containing France and the Netherlands, with a 3-2 win over the latter sealing top spot.

Turkey, meanwhile, have produced their own Goal of the Season competition and were involved in wins over Georgia and the Czech Republic that were difficult to take your eyes off.
