Espanyol boss González admits he was ‘bothered’ by chants from Barcelona fans
Espanyol head coach Manolo González has revealed that he was left frustrated with the chants directed at his side by sections of the Barcelona fanbase on Sunday.
Espanyol and Barca, of course, locked horns a short time ago, in the season’s first edition of The Derbi Barceloní.
When all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged expected victors, by three goals to one.
And, en route to as much, the visitors’ headmaster was not only left disappointed by what he was witnessing in front of him on the pitch.
So too was Manolo González ‘bothered’ by ongoings in the stands at Montjuïc.
Espanyol’s players were targeted by a series of chants on the part of the home crowd this evening, who made use of the opportunity to highlight the Periquitos’ recent 2nd tier status, revealing their hope that a similar relegation will be on the cards come the close of the current season.
And Manolo González was left less than impressed by as much, admitting to the media in his post-match press conference:
“It bothered me that the Barcelona fans were chanting ‘To the 2nd division!'”
