Erik Ten Hag Had PSG Target Unhappy at Manchester United, Expert Says
Manchester United parted ways with Erik ten Hag this week, closing a chapter at the club. Now, the focus shifts to which players will be key to the Red Devils’ future.
Meanwhile, TEAMTalk reported this month that Paris Saint-Germain has rekindled its interest in Marcus Rashford. Although the hurdles that blocked a summer move are still present, the Ligue 1 club is said to be eyeing a potential transfer next year.
Rashford will now play under a new manager, with Ruben Amorim expected to step in after reportedly agreeing to join United. One pundit believes this might be the forward’s last chance to cement his place at the club.
“It’s make or break time for Marcus, it really is,” Ally McCoist said on talkSPORT. “You can talk about managers coming in, whether it’s [Jose] Mourinho, [Louis] van Gaal, Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] or Ten Hag.
“Never mind the manager, just go and play, go and put in a level of performance yourself. If he asks you to do a job, go and do it.”
Marcus Rashford could find new life under Ruben Amorim
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness believes Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, who he says is “very dissatisfied,” could find a fresh start under Ruben Amorim’s guidance. Wyness stresses that the 39-year-old incoming boss can “relate better” to the England star than 54-year-old Erik ten Hag.
“With a new manager, you may well see Marcus with a refreshed attitude,” Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast. “He may well get on with a new manager and revitalise his career. It was only recently that he scored 30 goals in a season, he’s a huge talent. Amorim could bring out the best in him.
“He’s been making negative sounds for a while, he’s obviously very dissatisfied. If it’s not with Manchester and his personal life but with the football side, then he’s got a chance to turn it around.
“I think Amorim could be the right man. He’s only 39, so he can relate to the younger players a lot better than Ten Hag. I think it’s going to be a key factor in getting this squad motivated and flying again.”
