A new era at New Douglas Park
As the club look ahead to an exciting new era, we are delighted to announce Celtic Park will host our UEFA Women’s Champions League home tie against Chelsea.
The Hoops will take on the WSL Champions at Paradise on Wednesday, 13 November (8pm KO) as the Ghirls mark their return to Celtic Park on matchday three in the UWCL.
After securing Celtic FC Women’s first ever SWPL League Championship win, coach, Elena Sadiku declared that what lay ahead was the start of something new.
True to her word, the new season has brought with it a new adventure – qualification for the group stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
And now, another exciting new development for the Ghirls in green. Celtic FC Women have a new home. Kelly Clark will now lead out the team regularly at New Douglas Park, Hamilton.
The move follows last week’s triumphant, landmark qualification win over FC Vorskla Poltava, the 2-0 victory now being the last at former home, Airdrie’s Albert Bartlett Stadium. New Douglas Park meets the criteria required by UEFA for Women’s Champions League fixtures and as a result, the club has moved to secure a long-term agreement for Celtic FC Women’s home games to be played in Hamilton going forward.
Next weekend’s scheduled home fixture versus Queen’s Park has now been postponed, meaning Celtic FC Women’s first home fixture at New Douglas Park will indeed be our opening UWCL fixture versus FC Twente on the evening of Tuesday, October 8, (KO 8pm).
Full details on tickets for the Ghirls' European campaign will be released shortly but with improved transport links to Hamilton, it is hoped the new home for Celtic FC Women’s team will make it easier for fans to get behind Elena and her Scottish Champions in both domestic and European competition this season.
The club are in the process of communicating directly with all current Women’s team season ticket holders with guidance and options following the decision to move home games to New Douglas Park.
