Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has seen those around him issue a ‘formal’ denial in light of recent claims emerging in Spanish media over the last few days.

The Belgian winger has endured a mixed campaign so far for Manchester City, struggling for consistent opportunities to impress on the left of Pep Guardiola’s front-three amid battles with fitness and injury.

Following the turn of the year, Doku found a new spark in attack and contributed to a whole host of goals and assists as Manchester City looked to find their form once more this season after a difficult November and December run of fixtures.

But having impressed in a 0-6 away win at Ipswich Town in the Premier League, Doku was subjected to yet another injury problem and would be ruled out of action for the club for “a while”, according to manager Pep Guardiola.

As such, it was then relatively strange to see a suggestion emerging from Spanish media which claimed that Jeremy Doku had offered himself and his talents to La Liga giants FC Barcelona on a loan deal until the end of the season.

But such a belief has not lasted long at all.

According to the information of journalist Sacha Tavolieri on X, the entourage of the lightning-fast Manchester City winger have ‘formally denied’ information emerging from Spanish press in the last few days.

That concerned the idea that the Belgium international forward had been offered to La Liga giants FC Barcelona on a loan agreement until the end of the ongoing season, despite his up-turn in Manchester City performances in recent weeks.

Doku and his other Manchester City attacking teammates do face further competition for a starting place during the final five months of the campaign after club officials sanctioned a €75 million move for Eintracht Frankfurt and Egypt’s Omar Marmoush.

The 25-year-old has an ability to be flexible across all forward-line positions, and his impressive debut for the club in a 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League saw him largely operate from a left-attacking role but roaming free around Erling Haaland.

Having been ruled ineligible for Manchester City’s final Champions League league phase matches against Paris Saint-Germain, the club will be able to register the Egyptian star and their other two signings this month for the last-16 play-off tie, to be confirmed this week.
