For the upcoming summer transfer window, one of the top priorities of FC Barcelona is the signing of a top-class player for the left-wing position. As already reported, Nico Williams has been one of the candidates the Catalans are considering most strongly for this purpose, and in fact, a recent report claimed that he is now being prioritized even ahead of a midfield pivot.

But his signing is still far from being finalized, and thus, there are also some other candidates in the Blaugrana club’s sights for this position. For instance, Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is Deco’s favorite, while Dani Olmo has also been linked with the Catalan club for some time now.

Another player, with a comparatively lower profile, who was linked with Barcelona recently was the Hull City winger, Jaden Philogene. He was reported to be on the Catalan club’s radar, while his agents were also reported to have visited the Ciutat Esportiva, and a loan with a purchase option set at €30 million was also reportedly proposed for him.

Hull City owner had himself confirmed the interest of Barcelona in Philogene. However, as Cadena Ser has reported, the player himself appeared in an interview and disclosed that he has decided to join a Premier League side this summer, as such a move suits his career the best at this point in time.

When asked about his decision to choose a Premier League side, the player said: “I didn’t choose the Premier League; La Liga is still my dream. But this was the clearest option presented to me, so we focused on it.”

While he may have chosen the Premier League for now, it is clear that the winger loves Barcelona. When he was asked about his feelings when the Catalan club showed an interest in him, he commented: “I said, it can’t be, it’s the club of my dreams!”

Furthermore, he went on to claim that if it were up to him, he would sign for Barcelona “right now”, and also disclosed that he has had two clear former Barcelona players as his idols: “Since the beginning of my career. My idols are Ronaldinho and Neymar, and I want to follow in their footsteps.”
