Real Madrid had a mixed last summer transfer window. The Merengues at last landed their most-desired target in the market for the last few years, Kylian Mbappe, who remains one of the deadliest attackers in Europe right now.

However, the Merengues were unable to land their top defensive target, Leny Yoro. The Frenchman was linked strongly with Real Madrid over the summer but ultimately joined Manchester United. This failure can end up having a significant impact on Los Blancos’ season as injuries have left their defensive ranks very thin.

Meanwhile, according to a report from Diario AS, there can still be a new addition to the Real Madrid first team, even though the transfer window has closed. However, this new addition is not going to be that of a player, but of a new assistant for Carlo Ancelotti.

The report mentions that the Italian tactician wanted to expand his coaching staff and was looking for a new coach. The individual chosen for this role is the Englishman Andy Mangan, who is currently the assistant at the third division English side Stockport. Mangan has a close relationship with Davide Ancelotti, and it is at the request of the latter that he is being signed.

As things stand, the English coach is waiting for his work permit so he can join the Spanish club, and there is no set date when he will begin his duties with the white team.

During his career as a footballer, Mangan played more than 300 games in the third, fourth, and fifth English divisions.

As a manager, he began his career in 2019 as he joined Fleetwood’s coaching staff. He joined Bristol Rovers in 2021, where he was first manager. He also had a brief stint as a caretaker manager at this club at the end of 2023. After that, he joined Stockport, where he is still working today.

One thing that remains to be noted here is that he is not going to be a signing of Real Madrid’s sporting department, and his hiring is a decision of Ancelotti’s coaching staff. Mangan specialises in training the forwards and enhancing a team’s attack, and hopefully all the star forwards present at Real Madrid will be able to benefit from this appointment.
