England head coach Sarina Wiegman says that her team are only focused on winning their final UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifier against Sweden on Tuesday evening.

The Lionesses travel to Gothenburg in second position in their qualification group, three points ahead of their final opponents Sweden.

England simply need to avoid defeat to secure automatic qualification for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 and avoid the play-offs, however, head coach Wiegman says that her side will be going all out for the win.

“We never play a match to draw, we play a match to win,” Wiegman stated when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “If we win the game, we might even top the group too. Of course, we are dependent upon the result in the France game; everyone expects France to win but you never know what happens in football.

“We are approaching this game to win and then we will see what happens in the [other] game and what we need to do.”

England were held to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at Wembley back in April and Wiegman is well-aware of Sweden’s good reputation in the international game.

She said “It’s a real team, they’re a very structured team. They’re powerful with lots of experience and they can also play direct and look to get behind our defence, so we’ve got to be aware of that too.

“They’ve always been at the top level. We are aware of that and we will be prepared.”

England’s final UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifier against Sweden in Gothenburg kicks-off at 6pm on Tuesday evening.
