England centre-back Marc Guehi will miss the quarter-final clash with Switzerland at Euro 2024, should the Three Lions make it through, after picking up an early booking against Slovakia.

The Crystal Palace defender has been arguably England's most impressive performer at the tournament, seamlessly stepping into the shoes of former Manchester United captain Harry Maguire after he was ruled out of the tournament through injury.

Guehi was booked in the group stages along with Phil Foden, Conor Gallagher and Kieran Trippier, so knew he was walking a tightrope as England kicked off their last-16 clash against Slovakia.

But just minutes into the game, a nervy Trippier pass sold Guehi short, and he had no choice but to haul down Slovakia forward David Strelec. He was immediately handed a yellow card by Turkish referee Umut Meler, ruling him out of a potential quarter-final date with Switzerland.
