Emirates NBA Cup 2024 games today: Time, channel and schedule for in-season tournament
The second edition of the NBA's in-season tournament is upon us, with the first games of group play scheduled for Tuesday night. The league made sure there were a couple headliners for a national audience to watch when the action gets underway.
TNT's doubleheader for the rebranded Emirates NBA Cup will start with the first clash of the season between Eastern Conference contenders – the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers – off to rockier-than-expected starts. This is expected to be Joel Embiid's season debut after he missed the 76ers' opening nine games due to injury, and the first game since he was suspended for three games and fined for shoving a reporter in the 76ers' locker room earlier this month. This matchup takes place in Philadelphia, not far from where Knicks stars Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges starred together at Villanova.
The nightcap promises to be eventful, too. Klay Thompson will play his first game against the Golden State Warriors since he left the franchise this offseason to join the Dallas Mavericks. It promises to be an emotional scene at the Chase Center in San Francisco that goes well beyond the competition to win the event formerly known as the NBA Cup.
The tournament will span the next 35 days as every team in the league looks to claim the $500,000-per-player bonus that comes with winning the Emirates NBA Cup championship. There are eight games total on the schedule for Tuesday. Here's what to know about today's games, including how to watch and more on the Emirates Cup format:
