Elvis Luciano becomes youngest pitcher in Blue Jays history to record win

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is deservedly getting all the hype for the Toronto Blue Jays, but another youngster took the spotlight on Sunday evening.

Elvis Luciano, a 19-year-old rookie reliever, set multiple records during Sunday’s 5-4 win against the Oakland A’s. Luciano became the youngest player in franchise history to record a victory while also becoming the first player born in the 2000s to earn a major league win. Ah, to be young again.

It wasn’t a laborious effort from Luciano, who threw four pitches to record the game’s final out but it all counts the same at the end of the day, and he’s not the only Blue Jays rookie that could take the baseball world by storm.

Luciano was acquired by the Blue Jays in the 2018 Rule 5 Draft.
