Actor and comedian Will Ferrell made news this weekend when he was spotted in the stands Sunday for the Los Angeles Kings game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Kings won the game 5-4but Ferrell was at his comedic best as he dressed and acted as a sullen “Buddy” from his iconic 2003 Christmas film, Elf.

In his appearance, Ferrell pretended to smoke an unlit cigarette and was generally disheveled. He reportedly told FanDuel Sports Network reporter Carrlyn Bathe that it was a "tough holiday season."

His appearance was the latest in a string of memorable Ferrell hockey moments. Let's look at some more of them over the years.

– In 2023, Ferrell had his face painted in checkers for mutiple Kings playoff games against the Edmonton Oilers.

Kings fans loved seeing him supporting the team in his special way. Oilers fans, meanwhile, responded by sporting blue and orange checkers on their faces.

Ferrell’s been a well-known Kings fanatic over the years. Also in 2023, goalie Pheonix Copley celebrated with Ferrell with a fist bump through the glass after a Kings win over the San Jose Sharks.

And back in January, Ferrell hyped up Kings fans on the jumbotron with L.A. Dodgers star Mookie Betts sitting beside him.

– Ferrell brought another of his famous characters, “Ron Burgundy” from the Anchorman movies, to a Kings broadcast in a game against San Jose.

Burgundy called the appearance “truly one of the top 1,000 things I’ve done in my life,” and his fans undoubtedly would agree.

– More than 10 years ago now, the Kings took advantage of Ferrell’s fandom by putting him on a massive billboard in New York City during the 2014 Stanley Cup final between L.A. and the New York Rangers.

Ferrell’s heart and support were in the right place as the Kings defeated the Blueshirts to win their second Cup in three seasons.
