(World-Court-Gaza) (Audio: 091)

The top United Nations court has ordered Israel to halt its military offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

The International Court of Justice says Israel must stop the Rafah offensive, allow war crimes investigators access to Gaza and permit a major increase in humanitarian aid to the region.

The order is legally binding, but the court doesn't have the ability to enforce it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced immediately after the ruling he would hold a special ministerial meeting to decide how to respond, and a member of the Israeli war cabinet has indicated Israel will not change its course. (11)

(Sask-MLA-Gun)

Saskatchewan's government house leader is stepping down and apologizing for taking a long gun into the legislature building a decade ago.

Jeremy Harrison says in a statement it was a lapse in judgment, and Premier Scott Moe has accepted his resignation.

Harrison says the gun was properly cased, and he took it into the legislature before going on a weekend hunting trip to ensure it wasn't taken from his vehicle.

Harrison remains in the Saskatchewan Party government's cabinet as the minister responsible for trade and immigration issues. (11)

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is fuelling early election speculation.

He declined multiple times today to commit to sticking to the planned June 2026 date.

Ford spoke to reporters after an announcement about his updated plan to expand alcohol sales to all grocery stores and eligible convenience stores starting this summer.

He denies the move is setting the stage for an early election call. (11)

(Broncos-Deportation-Hearing) (Audio: 090)

The truck driver who caused the deadly bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team has received a deportation order.

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu (JASS'-kihr-at SING sih-DOO') is from India and has permanent resident status in Canada.

He was granted parole after being sentenced to eight years for dangerous driving in the 2018 bus crash in Saskatchewan that killed 16 people and injured 13 others.

But the order doesn't mean Sidhu has to leave the country right away.

Sidhu's lawyer has said there are still numerous other legal procedures to come. (11)

A national industry group for restaurants says rising chicken prices in British Columbia could lead to a 10 per cent price hike on menus.

Restaurants Canada says a B-C review board has approved a new formula to determine the price of chicken in the province.

Several food industry groups have raised the alarm about the change, saying it will put pressure on businesses and consumers.

Restaurant Canada says it will be advocating for changes to the price-setting process. (11)

(US-Obit-Dogecoin-Dog)(Audio: 099)

The dog that gained worldwide fame as an internet meme and became the face of the cryptocurrency dogecoin (DOHJ'-coin) has died.

A number of media reports say the Japanese owner of the Shiba Inu named Kabosu says she died in her sleep at 18-years-old.

The account for dogecoin on X is paying tribute to Kabosu, calling her an inspiration.

A picture posted by her owner online showing the dog rose in popularity as a meme in 2013 and captured the attention of early adapters of cryptocurrency. (11)
