Omar Marmoush has been assured by Eintracht Frankfurt that the club will not stand in his way of a move away from the club this month, according to reports.

Manchester City have made the Egypt international their next priority target in the ongoing January transfer window, having already finalised agreements for their first two new signings of the market.

Two new central defenders are expected to arrive at the Etihad Stadium and be formally announced by the club in the coming days, with Abdukodir Khusanov completing a €40 million switch from Lens and Vitor Reis arriving from Palmeiras in a £29.5 million deal.

While those two moves were relatively swift in their process and completion, Manchester City are having more of a long-winded negotiation with Eintracht Frankfurt over Omar Marmoush, who is understood to have already agreed upon personal terms with Etihad officials.

The latest on the deal is that City have seen an opening proposal rejected by the Bundesliga high-flyers, although new information from German media has insisted that the club have no intention of blocking a switch for their top attacking talent.

That is according to the information of BILD, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, who reports that Omar Marmoush remains in constant contact with Eintracht Frankfurt, who have assured the striker they will not block a transfer for the sake of ‘a few millions’.

It is explained that the Bundesliga side want to enable the 25-year-old to make the step up he wants, but continue to insist on a transfer fee of over €80 million having rejected Manchester City’s offer of just under €70 million in base transfer fees.

All parties are ‘firmly assuming’ a deal will go through next week at the latest, according to the report, with Eintracht expecting City to present an improved offer before their clash with Borussia Dortmund on Friday night getting closer to the fee they want.

While there had been hope that Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City would finalise a move for the player by the end of this week, and that Marmoush’s outing against SC Freiburg would be his final appearance for the club, that does not now appear to be the case.

Speaking during a media conference on Thursday afternoon, Eintracht manager Dino Toppmöller told reporters of his intention to play the Egyptian star in their upcoming Bundesliga outing.

“Omar will play tomorrow (against Borussia Dortmund), under normal circumstances,” Toppmöller admitted. “He’s in my plans.”

As for Manchester City, they are unlikely to see any of their new signings appear for the club against Ipswich Town this weekend in a Premier League away clash, but could show off some of their recruits against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League next week.
