The venue of the next La Liga Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid remain a great mystery, with Barça not ruling out the option of shifting the game to a foreign European location.

One thing that is for sure, though, is that Barcelona will once again wear a special jersey, which will feature a musical artist.

This will be the sixth time Barcelona wear such a jersey against Real Madrid, with previous editions featuring names such as Rosalia, The Rolling Stones, Drake, Karol G and most recently, Coldplay.

Ed Sheeran to become Barcelona’s next jersey sponsor

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ed Sheeran is set to become the next musical artist to feature on Barcelona’s shirt in the next Clasico.

As is the custom, Barcelona and its sponsor, Spotify, propose names of musical artists months before a Clasico, before reaching a consensus.

This, of course, depends on various factors and usually correlates to a new album from the said music artist or a series of concerts.

In the case of Ed Sheeran, he is expected to kickstart his European tour with a concert at Metropolitano in Madrid, just three weeks before the Clasico.

The said tour is said to pass through ten countries across Europe and will go until September 2025.

Ed Sheeran is quite a familiar face within the football universe, as he is famously known for his 1.4% stake in Ipswich Town, his favourite club. He regularly attends matches of Ipswich Town.

In 2023, a photo of Lionel Messi attending Ed Sheeran’s concert became viral. The two had been knowing each other since 2021, when they first met at Parc des Princes.
