LSU quarterback Danny Etling should be ready to go for fall camp after his spring back surgery.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron said Thursday on the Paul Finebaum show that Etling was facing 5-6 weeks of rehab following the “minor” surgery.

We’re not doctors, but calling any type of back surgery “minor” seems like a bit of an overstatement. Your back is something you never want operated on.

Per the Advocate, the procedure was designed to alleviate lingering back pain that Etling had been experiencing.

The Purdue transfer emerged as LSU’s starter in September, beating out Brandon Harris. Etling finished 160-269 passing for 2,123 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions and enters the 2017 season as LSU’s presumptive starter. Harris chose to transfer and went to North Carolina. Since he’s a graduate transfer he’s eligible to play immediately in 2017.
