Philadelphia Eagles rookie QB Carson Wentz was knocked out on Thursday’s game against the New York Giants and was sent to the locker room for a possible concussion. But he quickly returned after missing one series in which the Eagles came up short on a terrific scoring opportunity.

Wentz was hit by Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon and driven to the ground with his head hitting the turf. After the play — which was ruled roughing the passer on what appeared to be a poor call — Wentz had to hold onto a teammate to maintain his balance.

The Eagles pulled Wentz, who had played every snap this season for the Eagles, and sent him to the locker room for concussion testing. They replaced him with Chase Daniel, who made his Eagles debut. Daniel led the Eagles to the New York 1 yard line, where they were stopped on fourth down up 21-16 midway through the third quarter.

Wentz suffered a concussion at North Dakota State but had not suffered one in the NFL. He was back on the sideline with his helmet on shortly after the Giants took over on their next possession.
