Dylan Holloway & Philip Broberg Change Jersey Numbers in New Home

As NHL training camps start to approach, August has turned out to be an entertaining month filled with lots of moves. Of course, headlining everything was the St. Louis Blues offer sheeting and acquiring Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg from the Edmonton Oilers.

A new home for the two comes with new numbers. In Edmonton, Holloway wore No. 55 and Broberg wore No. 86.

Thursday evening, the team announced via their official Twitter/X account the new jersey numbers of their two new members for the St. Louis Blues.

Philip Broberg made one slight change to his previous number, getting rid of the eight before the 6. The Swedish defenseman becomes the 25th player in Blues history to wear No. 6, succeeding Marco Scandella, who wore that number for the previous four years.

Some notable defensemen to wear No. 6 as a member of the St. Louis Blues are Phil Housley in 1994, their only first overall pick in franchise history Erik Johnson from 2008 to 2011, and Wade Redden in 2013.

Dylan Holloway becomes only the second player to dawn the No. 81 in St. Louis history.

The only other player to grace that number was the "Real Deal" James Neal in 2022, when he suited up in 19 games during the 2021-22 season. Ironically, he also came from the Edmonton Oilers before arriving in St. Louis.

For those who may have missed it from earlier this summer, below is a list of the jersey numbers for the other newcomers to the Blues franchise.

Mathieu Joseph - No. 71
Pierre-Olivier Joseph - No. 77
Ryan Suter - No. 22
Radek Faksa - No. 12
Alexandre Texier - No. 9
