Dutch Fork standout is school’s third recent QB to commit to Clemson ... for baseball
Another Dutch Fork two-sport standout is headed to Clemson to continue his baseball career.
Junior Ethan Offing announced Monday that he’s committed to play for Erik Bakich and the Tigers. He joins former Dutch Fork two-sport players Ty Olenchuk and Will Taylor, who also played for the Tigers.
Like Olenchuck and Taylor, Offing also is the quarterback for the Silver Foxes. He is in his first year as full-time starter at the position after splitting time with Jon Hunt last season.
Offing has thrown for 429 yards and six touchdowns in two games this season for Dutch Fork. Last year, he threw for 1,311 yards and nine scores and rushed for 412 yards.
On the baseball diamond, Offing is the fourth-ranked shortstop by Diamond Prospects in the state for the Class of 2026. He has been a two-year starter for the Dutch Fork baseball team.
As a sophomore, Offing hit .265 with a homer, 12 RBIs, 16 runs scores and 13 stolen bases. This summer, he was part of Irmo Senior Little League Team that won the Southeast championship and made it to the title game of the national tournament before losing to Latin America.
Taylor was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth round of this year’s Major League Baseball Draft. He played both football and baseball for Clemson before eventually concentrating on baseball.
