Durham have completed the signing of Canadian wide-forward Kaila Novak ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Championship season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Wildcats this morning.

The 22-year-old will play her football in the English game for the first time this season after featuring in the American college system for UCLA Bruins and representing Canadian club FC London at senior level.

On the international stage, Novak has represented the Canadian national team at various youth levels up to and including Under-20 level. She has scored 16 goals in 25 games for her country across various age groups.

After sealing her move to Durham, Novak said “It’s amazing, I love it here already. The girls are absolutely phenomenal, the coaching staff are incredible and the level of play is absolutely superb. I couldn’t be happier being here.

“When I got the call saying that Durham wanted me, I knew I had to make it happen – and it did within a week. I was eager to be here and this is exactly where I want to be.

“I’ve heard about the fans and I’m super-excited to meet them. I know they’ll bring their A-game and I can’t wait, I already have them in my heart.”

Novak becomes Durham’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
