Drummondville Voltigeurs 2024-25 Season Preview

The Drummondville Voltigeurs made it all the way to the Memorial Cup last season. This year's roster looks like it could potentially do the same.

Both goalies, overager Riley Mercer (.905 in 49) and Louis-Felix Charron (.918 in 20), will be back between the pipes for the Volts.

The blueline features returners such as Sabres fourth rounder Simon-Pier Brunet (14 in 52), as well as Marc-Olivier Beaudry (25 in 68).

The team also added French defender Teo Besnier from the import draft, who had 9 points (1+8) in 20 games in the French second league, before ramping up to 10 (4+6) in 13 playoff games.

In the o-zone, the team still has the remaining two overagers in Luke Woodworth and Sam Oliver

Woodworth, the Voltigeurs captain, is coming off of a 62-point (21+41) season in 62 games.

Meanwhile, fellow centerman Sam Oliver notched an impressive 71 points (35+36) over 68 games last season.

The Volts have NHL pedigree in their top-six too, in Tampa Bay Lightning second rounder Ethan Gauthier (71 in 64).

After that though, there's a lot of maybes up front.

The team needs to expect big seasons off of depth pieces such as left winger Maxime Lafond (23 in 68), centerman William Dumont (12 in 26).

Additionally, the team's new additions will need to hit for them to have championship calibre depth. These additions are Adam Cavallin from the OHL (8 in 39) and import right winger David Bosson, who had 20 points over 47 games in Swiss U-20.

There's no doubt that this team is in good shape for the regular season. Although they could use a couple strong down the lineup pieces to be a true contender.
