Drake reportedly trying to woo Kawhi Leonard separately from Raptors

No one appears to have a clue what Kawhi Leonard is doing during the first days of free agency, while the league’s landscape transforms. Not the best-connected reporters, nor executives, nor the random guy on Twitter who is saying everything you want to hear.

But there may be one guy who can get the job done, and that might be Drake.

Stop booing me, I might be right, or at least Marc Stein of the New York Times could be.

Stein reports that the Raptors haven’t stopped their approach with Leonard, while Drake, the team’s global ambassador, is running a recruiting campaign of his own to convince the Finals MVP to stay in Toronto.

So, what could that amount to?

Drake invited the Raptors to OVO Fest this summer, during the championship parade, after riding on various players’ floats, including Leonard’s, where he took a photo with him and his mother.

The rapper was everywhere during the Finals, whether it was taunting Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson or daring the internet to meme him again after the Raptors won it all, and he seems to believe he’s just as much a part of the team as any of the reserves.

Drake once said he’s the only one to get the job done, so perhaps this is what he meant all along.
