Dovbyk reiterates his priority: “I want to lead Roma to the Champions League.”

Roma striker Artem Dovbyk spoke to Lega Serie A about his time in the Italian capital so far.

In the interview, the Ukrainian forward discussed his best attributes as well as his ambitions for his stay in Italy following his summer move from Girona.

“I know that I am the first Ukrainian to play for Roma, there is always pressure in such a club. But I am fully prepared for this, the main thing is that the team believes in me, the coach and everyone supports me.”

“I received a warm welcome, football without pressure is not football, you always have to motivate yourself. I like this type of adrenaline, I play much better under pressure.”

“I know that Roma had great strikers like Dzeko, Lukaku, Batistuta. But they were different, they played their own way, I want to be the ‘new Dovbyk’, show what I’m capable of and do my best here.”

“I know that Italian defenders are difficult to deal with, there is the catenaccio, it will not be easy but I am ready. For me it is a new challenge, but I believe that if you work hard everything will come out on the pitch. That is why I have to work hard. I do not set myself a number of goals to reach, I do not like doing these things.”

“I think my strong suit is being in the penalty area, finishing on goal, the shot is the most important thing. I can attack very well, even with my back to the defenders, these are my best qualities.”

“I love scoring goals, maybe I don’t touch the ball that often, but scoring is always better than not scoring.”

“My ambition? First of all, all the fans want Roma to play in the Champions League next year. I will do everything I can to achieve this goal and play in the Champions League next year.”
