Oh, Dougie Hamilton. How we love you so.

Moments after his Carolina Hurricanes disposed of the New York Islanders in four games to advance to the Eastern Conference Final, the 25-year-old blueliner put a bow on the best-of-seven series between the two sides.

While the Hurricanes won the war, Hamilton hadn’t forgotten about a previous battle. He decided to settle the score during handshakes at PNC Arena on Friday night.

It was a subtle gesture, but a hilarious one.

By tapping Islanders forward Brock Nelson on the head after their handshake, Hamilton got a bit of revenge for Curtis McElhinney.

Back in Game 3, Nelson patted the Hurricanes’ goaltender on the noggin moments after his teammate Josh Bailey beat him with a wrist shot late in the second period to momentarily tie the contest.

It was a pretty disrespectful play by Nelson and now he knows exactly how it feels to be belittled on national television.

Like an elephant, Hamilton forgets nothing.
