Doug Marrone confirms he had cancerous mole removed, won't prevent him from coaching

The Buffalo Bills have issued a statement from coach Doug Marrone disclosing that he had a cancerous mole removed that won't prevent him from fulfilling his coaching responsibilities.

“During a recent doctor’s visit, it was discovered that I had a cancerous mole on my skin, which has since been removed," Marrone said. "The only follow up required is to have my moles checked every 3 months and that basically is the end of the story. The recent extraction procedure will have no effect on my ability to coach the team moving forward."

Previously, there was a lot of confusion surrounding Marrone with the Bills' official team website posting an article that said: "Head Coach Doug Marrone announced today that he was diagnosed with BLANK TYPE OF CANCER. He says it's "not aggrive" and "highly treatable," along with a spot for a Marrone comment saying "QUOTE FROM MARRONE."

It was then deleted and the Bills had no comment for a long time before later issuing a statement from Marrone clearing up the situation.

Marrone went 6-10 last season in his first season with the Bills after previously coaching at Syracuse.
