Double whammy: Real Madrid star defender picks up serious knee injury
Real Madrid have endured their fair share of troubles when it comes to injuries, which have severely impacted the team’s performances this season.
Now, in yet another blow for Real Madrid, it appears their star player Eder Militao has picked up a serious injury against Osasuna.
Militao suffers fresh injury blow
Militao started the game in central defence, alongside Antonio Rudiger. However, the defender could only last half an hour.
Just before the half-hour mark, Militao picked up a serious-looking knee injury. The defender did not react well either, as he was seen trying to hold back tears. He was taken off using a stretcher around the 30th-minute mark.
It appears the Brazilian international has picked up a serious blow to his right knee, which is not a good sign for Real Madrid.
It must be remembered that Militao suffered an injury to his left knee for the better part of 2023. Now, he has picked up a blow on his right knee.
Judging by Militao’s reaction, the defender’s blow is quite serious, though further details will only come out when the match ends.
Militao’s injury took place just ten minutes after his fellow countryman Rodrygo also had to depart the pitch after feeling discomfort.
Debut for Raul Asencio
Militao’s nasty injury paved the way for academy prospect Raul Asencio to make his competitive debut for Real Madrid.
Asencio replaced the Brazilian at the hour mark and is likely to partner Rudiger at the heart of Real Madrid’s backline.
It will be interesting to see how Asencio copes with the rigours of top-flight football.
