Dorgu summit for Manchester United, but Napoli in the race too
Manchester United met with Lecce today to discuss Patrick Dorgu, but there was no formal offer and Napoli remain in the running.
The emissaries representing the Premier League side are in Italy for several meetings today, including with Napoli for Alejandro Garnacho.
Sky Sport Italia report that Matt Hargreaves, Leon Angel and Frank Trimboli sat down with Lecce directors in Milan with Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino and President Saverio Sticchi Damiani.
While there is no official written offer yet, Manchester United noted they would be prepared to pay €30m plus €5m in bonuses.
That is below the €40m asking price set by Lecce, who know they also have interest from Napoli.
Dorgu sought after by big clubs
According to Sportitalia, the Napoli plan would be to lay the groundwork to play Dorgu from next season, leaving him on loan at Lecce for the next six months while they battle for Serie A survival.
The 20-year-old plays as a right-back or on the left flank, in both defensive and attacking roles when required.
Already with four senior caps for Denmark, Dorgu came to the Lecce youth academy from Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2022.
So far this season, he has contributed three goals and an assist in 20 Serie A appearances for Lecce.
