‘Doesn’t make sense’ – Barcelona star hits back over inaccurate interview quotes

Barcelona star Jules Koundé has on Saturday hit back at the Spanish media, for what he claims was an inaccurate translation of an interview he conducted this week.

The name of defender Koundé has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines across the continent over the course of the day to date.

This comes after the former Sevilla man was quoted by Marca as having explained during an interview with ‘The Bridge’ that he no longer derives the same level of enjoyment from football as in years gone by:

“I would be lying to you if I told you that I like football as much as before. Before it was my career. Now it is my job. When I started, my life off the pitch was secondary.”

As alluded to above, however, mere hours on, Koundé has bitten back.

Taking to his official ‘X’ account to respond to Marca, the Barcelona standout assured that his quotes were taken out of context, explaining:

‘This headline you are publishing does not make sense and does not reflect what I said. It is important that when transcribing an interview from another language you at least do it faithfully, and of course not decontextualize what is said. Next time you feel like doing it, at least make sure that what you publish is correct.’
