Does Francesco Farioli’s preference for 40-year-old Remko Pasveer signal the end of Diant Ramaj’s time at Ajax?

It appears that Francesco Farioli may have made a decision on who he wants to start in goal for Ajax next season. Last summer, the side spent around €5m on Diant Ramaj from Eintracht Frankfurt, handing him a contract until 2028. However, as reported by VI, during last weekends friendly it was 40-year-old Remko Pasveer who started for what appears to be the ‘A team’ under Farioli. As a result, Ramaj may well see his Ajax career come to an end after just one season. As the report suggests, selling the 22-year-old goalkeeper would certainly free up some finances that could be used to strengthen the squad elswhere.

Last season Ramaj kept four clean sheets in 22 Eredivisie games for the side. The veteran Pasveer did not make a single appearance for the side, and it would certainly be a surprise if he was back to being the number one for the entire season. Argentinian goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli is also still under contract, as well as Jay Gorter and Charlie Setford. Pasveer only has one year left on his contract.
