Dodgers vs. Mets live updates: LA can clinch, NLCS Game 5 time, lineups, TV channel

Leading the best-of-seven National Championship Series 3-1, the Los Angeles Dodgers can clinch a spot in the 2024 World Series with a win Friday against the New York Mets.

Los Angeles won 10-2 in Game 4 at Citi Field on Thursday and have outscored the Mets 30-9 in this series, picking up the three victories by margins of nine, eight and eight runs – including shutouts in Games 1 and 3.

Mookie Betts went 4-for-6 with a home run and four RBI in the Dodgers' Game 4 win and likely NL MVP Shohei Ohtani homered for the second game in a row after being held without a longball in the previous six.

David Peterson (10-3, 2.90 ERA) gets the start for the Mets, looking to extend New York's season. The left-hander is making his first start of the postseason but has been crucial out of the bullpen, picking up a win and a save across four appearances with a 2.08 ERA. Right-hander Jack Flaherty takes the mound for the Dodgers in the potential clincher after turning in a masterful performance in Game 1.

David Peterson escapes first-inning jam

Shohei Ohtani led off Game 5 with a single and Mookie Betts followed with a double, putting runners on second and third with nobody out for Mets starter David Peterson. The lefty then retired Teoscar Hernandez (groundout), Freddie Freeman (lineout) and Tommy Edman (strikeout) to end the threat, a stunning escape in what could have been a season-crushing inning for the Mets.
