DJ Moore wants Bears to hire an offensive-minded head coach
The Chicago Bears have an important decision to make this offseason when hiring their next head coach to replace Matt Eberflus, who was fired after Thanksgiving.
There's been plenty of discussion about whether the Bears should hire an offensive-minded head coach to help develop quarterback Caleb Williams or an experienced coach to help turn this locker room culture around. During an interview on 670 the Score, receiver DJ Moore revealed what type of head coach would be the right fit for the Bears.
"An offensive-minded coach would take it to the next level but whoever comes in there has just gotta lead the men in the locker room," Moore said Monday.
The first name that comes to mind is Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who's been connected to Chicago since Matt Eberflus was fired after Thanksgiving. Johnson has led a dominant Detroit offense and has made Jared Goff into a Pro Bowl quarterback. Granted, the Lions have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, but the offense has been one of the best in the league in every facet for the last three seasons.
Another name that could be in the mix is Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who has quarterback Josh Allen playing at an MVP level. That included most recently leading an offense that put up 48 points on the NFC favorite Detroit Lions.
While the Bears have been focused on the "leader of men" type of head coach -- which is what Eberflus was supposed to be, mind you -- it's clear they need an offensive-minded guy to help develop Williams and keep up with the rest of the NFC North.
