Diogo Dalot has won back possession most number of times in the Premier League thus far
It has only been three games into the new season for Manchester United and already alarm bells are ringing with Erik ten Hag’s future in jeopardy.
The Red Devils succumbed to their third loss in four games in all competitions, against Liverpool last weekend and there has hardly been any positives worth talking up thus far.
Most big-name stars have struggled so far but one player who can be proud of his early season form is Diogo Dalot, who seems to be carrying on the good form he had displayed previous season.
In a campaign where the 20-time English league champions finished a disappointing eighth, the Portuguese was a consistent performer, being named the Players’ Player of the Year for his effective displays on either flank.
Dalot continues to impress
With Noussair Mazraoui joining from Bayern Munich this summer, Ten Hag has opted to start the Moroccan in the right-back role while shunting out the former Porto star to the left.
But the 25-year-old has not let that affect him, impressing with forays forward while also playing a key role during building from the back.

Not only in forward areas, Dalot has also impressed with his tenacity in his defending and his will to press aggressively has not gone unnoticed,
Whoscored have claimed that the full-back has won back possession 26 times so far this Premier League season, more than any other player.
Most possession regained
“Diogo Dalot has won possession more times than any other player in the Premier League so far this season (26),” the account wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The Portugal international was always known to be quite good when it comes to the attacking part of his game but was not always upto the mark defensively.
Following Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure, there were doubts of whether Dalot could handle things at the back but so far, he has shown that he is constantly improving, something that will please his manager.
Once Luke Shaw regains fitness, it will be interesting to see where Ten Hag plays Dalot but he has earned his manager’s trust by performing on either flank when called upon.
