Clarence Seedorf has once again spoken about AC Milan’s current difficult patch after he was a guest for the 0-0 draw with Genoa on Sunday.

In what was supposed to be a night that celebrated 125 years of Milan, the team were jeered off the field and protests erupted inside and outside the stadium. Some fans seem to have reached breaking point, with the team sat in eighth and points constantly being dropped.

While Paulo Fonseca has the faith of the management for now, time must be running out for him to prove that he can engineer a surge towards the Champions League places. Otherwise, the minimum objective for the season could vanish very quickly.

Seedorf was interviewed on Giulia Mizzoni’s YouTube channel and he spoke about how Milan are doing at the moment, with a nod to the past too of course.

“The best thing was seeing former teammates or our idols from when we were kids again. Baresi, Rijkaard, Gullit are the ones who tell the story of the club. It was also nice to see the stadium full for a special evening that goes beyond the match,” he said (via MilanPress).

“The current Milan is a team with potential. Changing the coach brings with it an important change, the consistency that depends on Fonseca’s new philosophy is missing. Consistency is also missing from the players, I think the main reason concerns the different ideas compared to the period with Pioli.”
