What did Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and Sen. Ted Cruz wager on the Cotton Bowl?

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, right, (R-OH) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), left, made a bet on the 2024 College Football Playoff semifinal between Texas and Ohio State.

The Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes will face off on Friday in the Cotton Bowl Classic as part of the College Football Playoff semifinal.

Two of their fans, Sen. Ted Cruz and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, made a friendly wager on which team would win. Cruz supports the Longhorns while Vance roots for the Buckeyes.

Cruz made the offer on X, formerly Twitter, saying that the loser would bring food and beer from their home state while wearing the winning team’s jersey.

Vance accepted the offer on X, formerly Twitter, jokingly asking his followers what Texas-based ice cream brand Cruz should bring once the Buckeyes win.

The two teams will square off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with the game set to air on ESPN.

The winner of the game will play the winner of the Capital One Orange Bowl between Notre Dame and Penn State in the CFP National Championship game.
