When did the NFC East last have a repeat champion? It's been A WHILE.

The NFC East won't be decided when the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles play Thursday night. But the division will gain a little clarity about which team is most likely to claim the title at the end of the season.

It'll be one of these two. Regardless of what happens, we can confidently say the injury-ravished Dallas Cowboys won't be catching either the Commanders or Eagles.

What that means for the division is that it's going to have a new champion from last season, which will extend one of the longest and weirdest streaks you'll come across in the NFL.

As long as the Cowboys stay out of first place, this will be the 20th straight year the NFC East has gone without a repeat champion, extending what's already an NFL record.

The last team to win the division in consecutive years was the Philadelphia Eagles from 2001-04. Since then, every team has won it at least a few times, a couple have won Super Bowls and one team has had three different names, but no team has claimed the East twice in a row. Incredible.
