Di Marzio: Milan could add ‘obligation’ to midfielder’s loan to convince Chelsea

AC Milan will scout the mercato for several different options and opportunities, and whilst a defensive midfielder is the main profile they would like to add, they could also make moves for other midfield profiles.

Balance was arguably the biggest downfall in Milan’s season, and this summer, it will be rectified, but the Rossoneri cannot focus on one profile. Not only would it be unwise, but if they missed bargains on players they admire, it can come back to bite them in the future.

As a result, each opportunity must be analysed, and that is the plan with Carney Chukwuemeka, who the Diavolo have previously been interested in, and the links are re-emerging this summer.

Reports in recent days have suggested that there has been contact with Chelsea about the possibilities of a move in the summer, and it could be the Rossoneri’s chance to finally land a player whom they have admired for several years.

This morning, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Blues are not a fan of the proposed loan with an option-style deal, but Milan have not given up the chase. Instead, they have returned, wanting to add an appearance-based obligation clause to the loan contract, which could sway the London outfit, given the concrete possibility of a sale rather than a potential one.
