The power forward settled the puck down and passed it onto the tape of Nico Hischier's stick. The captain's wrist shot beat opposing netminder Cam Talbot, and the red light went off.

The play signaled the 150th goal of Hischier's career, with Meier's primary assist becoming his 200th.

The goal was one of five New Jersey scored in their 5-4 victory over the Red Wings Friday night. Dougie Hamilton, Jack Hughes, Stefan Noesen, Hischier, and Meier found the back of the net, while goaltender Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves on 28 shots.

After serving his one-game suspension, Meier returned to the ice and made an impact, earning his third multi-point game of the 2024-25 season. He finished the game with a team-leading five shots on goal and seven hits.

"He is a great player," Paul Cotter said of Meier. "Always good to have him obviously back in the lineup, but in the room as well. He is a big piece of our team and our culture. Awesome to have him out there."

Meier will look to reach 400 NHL points Saturday night when the Devils host the Washington Capitals at Prudential Center.
