Devils Should Swing Trade For Ducks All-Star
The New Jersey Devils are one of the top teams in the NHL right now, so the expectation is that they will be buyers this season. One thing they could look to do is add another skilled winger.
When looking at potential targets around the NHL, one player who immediately stands out is Anaheim Ducks winger Frank Vatrano.
Vatrano, 30, is in the final season of his contract and is a pending unrestricted free agent. Furthermore, the Ducks are rebuilding and currently at the bottom of the Pacific Division standings, so the possibility of Vatrano being made available near the trade deadline is there.
Vatrano has had a decent start to the season, posting six goals, 13 points, and 72 hits in his first 25 games. He also has been heating up as of late, recording two goals and four points over his last four contests.
Vatrano showed last season that he can be a major difference-maker. In 82 games, he set career highs with 37 goals, 23 assists, 60 points, and 156 hits. He was also named to his first All-Star Game due to his fantastic play.
If the Devils acquired Vatrano, he could be a perfect winger to put on the second line with Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt. However, he also could provide more secondary scoring in a bottom-six role. No matter the role, the Devils would get a nice boost if they added Vatrano.
