Devils Star Forward Reaches Milestone In 5-0 Victory Over Flyers

Jack Hughes skated into the Philadelphia Flyers offensive zone with the puck on his stick. Near the circle, he dished it past opposing defenseman Erik Johnson to his linemate, Jesper Bratt.

As fast as the puck was on Bratt's stick, it was off. Hughes received it back from his teammate and shot it into a wide-open net to secure a 5-0 victory for the New Jersey Devils.

It marked Hughes' second point of the night and 20th goal of the season.

Per NHL Pr, Hughes is the fourth player in franchise history to record four 20-goal seasons at age 23 or younger, joining Kirk Muller (five times), Wilf Paiement (five times), and Pat Verbeek (four times).

In the 2021-22 season, Hughes surpassed the 20-goal milestone for the first time with 26. The next season, he reached a career-high 43 goals in 78 games. Last season, he dealt with injuries that limited him to 62 games and saw his total goals drop to 27.

At the time of publication, Hughes is on a four-game point streak that began on Jan 22, 2025. The 2019 first-overall pick has 60 points through 53 games this season.
