The Devils Roster Going to Prague to Start 2024-25 Season

NEWARK, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils wrapped up their final practice at RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House on Sunday afternoon before they journey to Prague, Czechia, to kick off the 2024-25 season and the 2024 NHL Global Series.

Noticeably missing was Frydek-Mistek, Czechia native Ondrej Palat, who missed practice for personal reasons. Nolan Foote skated in his place on a line with Erik Haula and Stefan Noesen.

After the team's practice, head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed rookie defenseman Seamus Casey would accompany the team to Europe.

"If you had to wager on it, you would have said he’d be going to Utica to start the season and gaining valuable experience down there, but we have opportunity here with the injuries that we have, and he’s performed well," Keefe said. "We think he’s earned the right to come on the trip with us."

"It’s huge, super exciting," Casey said to reporters after practice. "Camp has gone good so far, you know you always want to see your name on the roster so it’s super exciting. Just got to keep working."

The Devils departed from New Jersey on Sunday night and arrived in Prague on Monday afternoon. Once they arrive, they will travel from the airport directly to the rink for practice.

"We will travel and then actually go right to the arena to practice again in Prague tomorrow," Keefe said. "We aren't expecting much out of it. It is more so to get the guys to sweat and really keep them awake, quite honestly, to help adjust to the time and everything."

The group that went to Prague is below.

Forwards: Timo Meier, Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, Tomas Tatar, Nico Hischier, Dawson Mercer, Nolan Foote, Ondrej Palat, Erik Haula, Stefan Noesen, Paul Cotter, Curtis Lazar, Nathan Bastian, Kurtis MacDermid, and Shane Bowers

Defensemen: Brenden Dillon, Dougie Hamilton, Jonas Siegenthaler, Johnathan Kovacevic, Seamus Casey, Simon Nemec, Colton White, and Nick DeSimone.
