Yahoo Sports Devils Key Forward Breaks The Ice Big Time
New Jersey Devils forward Dawson Mercer experienced a bit of a cold streak before the club's latest matchup against the Seattle Kraken. The 2020 first-round pick had zero points in his previous four games and three points in his last nine contests.
Players naturally go through some lows during the long NHL season, but Mercer undoubtedly broke the ice big time in the Devils' contest against the Kraken.

Mercer had an impressive performance against the Kraken, as he had a goal, an assist, and a plus-2 rating.
Mercer's goal was one he certainly earned. After crashing the net hard and securing Nico Hischier's rebound, he deked out Kraken goalie Philip Grubauer and fired it home.

Mercer did not stop there, though, as he also recorded the primary assist on Paul Cotter's second-period goal. Mercer smartly deflected a pass from Johnathan Kovacevic into the offensive zone, which gave Cotter his excellent scoring chance.
