Devils Have Intriguing Trade Target From Maple Leafs

The 2025 NHL trade deadline is less than two months away, and the New Jersey Devils are expected to try to add. At this point of the season, they have a 26-15-4 record and are second in the Metropolitan Division, so their playoff hopes are excellent.

When looking at the Devils' roster, it is fair to say that they could use more offensive production in the bottom half of their lineup. One player who could be an interesting option for them to consider is Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson.

Robertson, 23, is due for a change of scenery and notably requested a trade from the Maple Leafs this past off-season. The former top prospect could benefit from a fresh start, and the Devils could be a good landing spot for him.

Robertson has had a tough season thus far, posting seven goals and 11 points in 36 games. However, he has notably improved down the stretch, recording five goals and nine points over his last 13 games.

Robertson has the potential to provide solid secondary scoring, and he is demonstrating this right now. The same can be said about his 2023-24 campaign, as he set career highs in a limited role with 14 goals, 13 assists, and 27 points in 56 games.

Overall, Robertson could be a nice low-risk, high-reward young player for the Devils to take a shot on for their third line.
