Devils Continue To Be Linked To Canadiens Forward
The New Jersey Devils are expected to try to add to their bottom six before the 2025 NHL trade deadline passes. Due to this, one player who has been connected to them is Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans.
This is only continuing to be the case, as NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reported in his latest column for The Athletic that the Devils "are among the teams that have already kicked tires" on Evans.
LeBrun previously reported that Evans was one of the players the Devils had on their list of potential targets.
Hearing that the Devils have already expressed interest in Evans is not surprising. Given how well he has played this season, he could give them an upgrade to their third-line center spot if acquired. In 43 games this season, he has 10 goals, 23 points, and a plus-7 rating.
Evans is also well-known for his strong defensive play, so he would provide the Devils another solid option for their penalty kill if acquired, too. In addition, he also has had success playing on the fourth line with Montreal, so he could be impactful in that role for the Devils as well.
It will be interesting to see if the Devils' interest in Evans leads to them acquiring him before the deadline from here.
