Devils Should Make Big Trade For Sharks Star
The New Jersey Devils are off to an excellent start this season, as their 20-10-3 record shows. With the Devils being one of the top teams in the NHL, there is a clear expectation that they will be buyers this season.
When looking at the Devils' roster, it is fair to wonder if they will try to add another top-six forward to their roster before the deadline passes. If this is an avenue they try to go down, one potential trade target who could make sense for the Devils is San Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund.
Granlund, 32, is in the final season of his contract on a rebuilding Sharks club. Because of this, trade speculation surrounding the veteran forward has naturally been there. This will only be more of the case if he still does not have an extension signed once we get near the deadline.
If Granlund is officially made available, he could be an interesting player for the Devils to target. Due to his versatility, he can play all three forward positions, which adds to his appeal. Thus, if the Devils acquired him, his playmaking ability could make him a strong fit on the second line with Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt.
Granlund is having an excellent season with the Sharks in 2024-25, posting 11 goals and 32 points in 31 games thus far. This is after he had 12 goals and 60 points in 69 contests with the Sharks last season.
