Hischier, 26, left the Devils' Jan. 25 contest against the Montreal Canadiens after receiving a cross-check from Nick Suzuki and has not been back in the lineup since. He was initially labeled as being day-to-day, but now this injury will keep him out for longer than expected.
Hischier is one of the Devils' best players, so this is undoubtedly bad news for them. In 51 games this season, he has 24 goals, 43 points, 46 blocks, and a plus-11 rating.
