Barcelona president Joan Laporta called head coach Hansi Flick for a meeting, on the back of the club’s latest outing.

That’s according to journalist Jose Alvarez Haya of El Chiringuito TV, who has on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Barcelona, of course, are fresh off an altogether disappointing night’s work on Thursday.

After opening the season with a perfect record of five wins from five, the Blaugrana made the trip to France, for a Champions League opening round meeting with AS Monaco.

And, when all was said and done at the Stade Louis II, the visitors were condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result.

In the aftermath of the clash, the mood amongst those of a Barca persuasion, in turn, has been something of a sombre one.

Fans of the Catalan heavyweights will therefore no doubt be interested to hear of manager Hansi Flick being summoned for a meeting with the club’s brass.

As per the aforementioned Jose Alvarez Haya, as much was held in the aftermath of last night’s defeat.

However, it was not intended in any way to put pressure on, or criticise new boss Flick.

Instead, Joan Laporta wanted to reiterate his faith in the German’s talents, sending a message of encouragement to both Flick and his squad ahead of Sunday’s La Liga meeting with Villarreal.
