DeSmith Blanks St. Louis In 33-Save Effort

The Dallas Stars are in the middle of a tiring stretch of their schedule currently, and they wrapped up that run on Saturday night with a contest against the St. Louis Blues. The second leg of the back-to-back comes during one of the toughest months of the season schedule. The Stars rolled out goaltender Casey Desmith to hold down the crease on the road. The veteran net minder is coming off a prior appearance that DeSmith take a loss on the road in Colorado, 6-3. The backup would play a different tune against the Blues.

Casey DeSmith came into Saturday's matchup with the St. Louis Blues carrying a modest save percentage of .905. The first year Stars goaltender would improve upon that number by stopping all 33 shots thrown his way. The Stars would receive offensive support from Evegenii Dadonov, and Esa Lindell scoring goals in the first period. Lindell's goal would come on the Dallas man-advantage after Blues forward Jake Neighbours was called for a roughing penalty at 7:39 into the 1st period.

The win in St. Louis brought the Stars within six points of the first place Winnipeg Jets. As Dallas continues to work their way up the standings in the Central Division, they will have another chance to contribute another two points to their cause on Tuesday when they take on the Golden Knights in Vegas. The pair of Stanley Cup contenders are set to clash at 9pm CST, and will be available to watch on Victory+ and ESPN+.
